Food

mandarin almond saladWhen it comes to eating, I like to think of food as fuel—the better I eat, the better I run. I try not to get hung up on counting calories and carbs or weighing fats and proteins, and instead aim for a balance that makes me feel good. As a writer and as a health coach, I try to help others find that balance, too. Here’s to happy eating!

My approach to food:

I received my health coach training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. The program introduced me to more than 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods. I heard lectures from some of the world’s top health and wellness experts, including Dr. Andrew Weil, Dr. Deepak Chopra, Dr. David Katz, Dr. Walter Willett, Geneen Roth, and many other leading researchers and nutrition authorities. And I discovered the concept of Bio-individuality™–each person has unique food and lifestyle needs, and that’s why diets can’t be one-size-fits-all.

Integrative Nutrition PlateThe Integrative Nutrition™ Plate shows how an ideal plate looks at mealtime, and emphasizes the importance of local and organic produce, whole grains, high-quality proteins, plant-based fats, and water. The plate is surrounded by the lifestyle factors that contribute to optimal health: relationship, career, physical activity and spirituality.

I’d love to introduce you to some of the healthiest foods on the planet and teach you how to find an eating plan that works best for your body and lifestyle. Contact me today to schedule your free initial health coaching consultation.
